• Congratulations to Bobby Markey, whose score on the Virginia Tech Regional Math competition put him in the top 22% of participants.  Congratulations also to Louis Franzel, Richard Hayden, and Briana Wells, who achieved positive scores.

• Dr. Brian Lins, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Hampden Sydney College, gave a colloquium presentation on Tuesday, November 18, 2008.

• The LU Mathematics Department hosted the 2008 Piedmont Council of Teachers of Mathematics on October14.

• Congratulations to the 2008 winners of the Longwood Programming Contest!  First Place:  Richard Hayden and Michael Souza;  Second Place:  Daniel Honey and Roger Hopkins;  Third Place:  Carter Dewey and Daniel Oppecker;  Honorable Mentions go to Drew Carpenter, Michael Moyer, Ryan Wagner, and Matt Bulkley.

• The Problem Solving Competition continues! See the bulletin board outside of Ruffner 354.

• The November Pi Mu Epsilon PotM is due by Thursday, November 25 at 5:00 p.m.

• The November Computer Science PotM is due by November 30.

• Dr. Nicholas Robbins, Assistant Professor, Gettysburg College, will give a colloquium presentation on Tuesday, January 27, 2009.
