Arrivals & Departures
Please provide details of your arrival/departure at least 2 weeks in advance.
General Transportation Policy Statement for International Students
The Office of Multicultural Affairs and International Student Services will make every attempt to meet your transportation needs.
Beginning in August 2009, the Office will provide only arrivals (at the beginning of the term) and departures (end of the term) at no cost to the international Students. All other requests for transportation will require a minimum twenty five dollar per person fee for transportation to and from Longwood University. The charge will assist the office in providing subsidized and low cost transportation to all international students attending the University. This fee is well below the market rate for travel between Longwood and the greater Richmond area. Please note that the exact amount will vary depending on the type of vehicle and the number of passengers traveling at any given time or date.
Arrivals to and Departures from Longwood University
The office will provide both new and returning international students with arrival and departure dates, prior to your actual arrival and departure to/from Richmond (Virginia) International Airport (RIC).
- Arrivals Fall 2010: Wednesday, August 18th
- Departures Fall 2010: Saturday, December 11th between 7:00 am and 12:30 pm
Note: Additional costs will apply for arrivals and departures outside of the designated dates and times.
If your flight is canceled or delayed, please call 434-390-8752 (within three hours of your scheduled arrival to RIC).
The airport is a one and a half hour drive.
For emergencies after hours (after 5:00 pm/1700 hours), please call Longwood University, Department of Public Safety, (434) 395-2091.
Mandatory Orientation
Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Hiner 107
To make you aware of your responsibilities as a J1 or F1 Visa holders. And to apprise you of the responsibility charged to the University by the State and the Federal government.
Please bring the following documents:
- I-20 Form/2019 (Official Government Stamp)
- Passport with Visa
- I-94 (Arrival/Departure record) and all immigration documents (Health and Immunization Record)
- Proof of Health Insurance (must have coverage for the academic year)
By bringing these important documents, you will provide the institution an opportunity to verify your status and make copies for our files . Your cooperation and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to make this meeting, for any reason, please notify this office promptly.
