  1. Globalization Forum

During the 2006-2007 academic year four speakers will be invited to talk about their work that is relevant to globalization.  These seminars/lectures can and will generate ideas for class projects, discussions, and provide the spirit to energize the Jamestown 2007 project.  The plan is to invite a colleague from Longwood University, or from a local college/school/institution, or an expert/practitioner from outside the Farmville area.  The Globalization/Religious Pluralism Series Committee will select the speakers.
  2. Panel Discussion

A panel comprised of ministers and interpreters of various faiths (a representative panel will be identified and invited) to discuss interfaith dialogue.  Three prepared questions will be given to the panel prior to the program to help guide the discussion and provide context for the event.  The panel members will be asked to write responses to the questions in advance so that a document will be created to enable students and others to reflect on the issues and to stimulate further discussion.  The panel will be moderated by Dr. Ramesh Rao, who possesses expertise in facilitating cross cultural dialogue.
  3. Key Note Speaker

Dr. Diana Eck, Professor of Comparative Religion and Indian Studies, Harvard University, will be invited to speak to our campus and community.  Dr. Eck directs the Pluralism Project whose mission is to help Americans engage with the realities of religious diversity through research, outreach, and active dissemination of resources.  At a luncheon, the speaker will be asked to meet with area theologians, interpreters of faith, and campus ministers to discuss the challenges, consequences, and opportunities meditation pluralism in a democratic and pluralistic society.
  4. Web Page

We plan to create a Web Page that specifically addresses issues and information related to globalization and religious pluralism.  Important and relevant links will be available.  In-house experts will help us create and maintain this Web Page
