The Department of Music offers scholarships of varying amounts to majors through audition.
Scholarship Audition Deadline -- March 1
Waverly M. Cole Music Scholarships
The newest scholarships in the Music Department are the result of a major donation by Dr. Waverly Cole of Richmond, Virginia. These scholarships are awarded to music majors as chosen by the music department faculty through audition.
Hull Music Scholarships
Provided through gifts from Mr. Andrew Hull and Duvahl Ridgeway Hull, the Hull Music Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in Music.
Those eligible for consideration must audition and interview with the faculty of the Music Department. Applicants must possess outstanding music performance ability and above average academic performances as determined by the Vice-president for Academic Affairs. Candidates must be residents of Virginia and full time students who intend to earn a bachelor's degree from Longwood prior to pursuing further graduate or professional study.
The factors of participation and evidence of leadership potential are taken into consideration when selecting the recipients of the Hull Scholarships. No recipient of the Hull Music Scholarship may be a member of (or become a member of) a social sorority or social fraternity while receiving any money from the Hull Fund.
A scholarship may be awarded to the same student from year to year provided the student meets the terms and conditions established (including reauditioning and interview). Scholarships are awarded in the areas of instrumental, vocal, theory/composition, and keyboard.
Pauline Boehm Music Scholarship
In memory of the late music faculty member, Pauline Boehm Haga, this award is given to the rising junior or senior music major with the highest grade point average, which must be at least 3.25. Students are considered for the award after completing three semesters of college work, two of which must have been completed at Longwood.

Holiday Dinner Scholarships
These scholarships are funded by money raised through the department's annual Christmas Dinner/Concerts and are awarded to returning music majors. The recipients, who will perform in a solo or small group setting during the following year's dinner/concerts, are chosen through audition by the Music Department Faculty.
