Camerata Singers

The Camerata Singers is Longwood’s flagship choral ensemble, representing Longwood and the Music Department across the state and the region. Singers are selected through an audition, and include majors from across the University. The Camerata Singers performs sacred and secular choral literature from ancient to modern times. SATB. 3 periods; 1 credit.Learn more

 

University Men's Choir

The Men’s Choir is open to men across campus who are interested in singing. Participation can fulfill General Education Goal 4 requirements for non-music majors, who are welcome to join the choir without audition. The Men’s Choir appears informally on campus a few times each semester, and offers a final concert at the end of the semester. TB, 2 periods; 1 credit.

University Women's Choir

The Women’s Choir is open to women across campus who are interested in singing. Participation can fulfill General Education Goal 4 requirements for non-music majors, who are welcome to  the choir without audition. The Women’s Choir appears informally on campus a few times each semester, and offers a final concert at the end of the semester. SA, 2 periods; 1 credit.

Opera Workshop

Preparation and performance of scenes from operas, operettas, and musical theater or complete works. Emphasis is on musical preparation, movement and diction. Prerequisite: Audition or consent of instructor. May be repeated for credit. 3 periods; 1 credit.

Wind Symphony

The Longwood Wind Symphony is a 60-65 member ensemble which includes members from all schools and departments of the university.  Membership is open to all instrumentalists, regardless of major.   The band rehearses and performs a wide range and variety of concert band literature. 2 periods; 1 credit.

Jazz Ensembles A and B are both structured as 18-piece big bands.  They present a series of concerts throughout the year.  Participation is open to all students by audition.  The Jazz Ensembles rehearse and performs all styles of jazz. 2 periods; 1 credit.
