Healthy Weight Week:

January 20
Brett Sample, Interim Director of Campus Recreation, will present a program on "How to be active in your residence hall room." at 6:00-7:30pm in the ABC room.

January 22
Nutritionist, Kathy Fields, will present on "How to eat healthy on campus and what exactly nutrition is," at
6:00-7:30pm in the ABC room.



ADMINISTRATIVE & ACADEMIC


ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:

The last day to add or drop a class is Monday, January 20, 2003 and the last day to withdraw from a class is 12:00 noon on Monday, March 3, 2003.

STUDENTS TAKING CLASS PASS/FAIL: To take a class pass/fail students need to sign the Pass/Fail List in the Registration Office by Monday, February 24, 2003.

STUDENTS REPEATING COURSE: To correct your GPA, you need to notify the Registration Office of any course being repeated by submitting a Repeated Course Form.

STUDENTS ON ACADEMIC PROBATION: Any student on Academic Probation who is carrying more than 15 credit hours must meet with their advisor and arrange to drop whatever course or courses necessary to get to the 15-credit hour maximum. (Please reference the Academic Probation and Suspension Policy, Longwood University Catalog.)

DEGREE REQUIREMENT: Students who expect to complete degree requirements in May 2003, Summer 2003, and December 2003, should have ALREADY filed an Application for Degree in the Registration Office. If not, please do so immediately! Students who expect to complete degree requirements in May 2004 must file degree application by the end of the current semester.

REMOVAL OF GRADE OF INCOMPLETE: The deadline for removal of undergraduate grades of Incomplete (Grade: "I") from Fall 2002 is Monday, March 3, 2003. The deadline for removal of graduate grades of Incomplete (Grade: "I") from Summer 2002 and Fall 2002 is Friday, April 25, 2003.

SUMMER SCHOOL 2003 - Registration for all summer sessions begins Thursday, March 20, 2003. Summer dates are: Session I: Monday, May 19 - Thursday, June 12; Session II: Monday, June 16 - Thursday, July 10; Session III: Monday, July 14 - Friday, August 1

Applications for a Teacher Preparation Scholarship are available in the Hull Building, Room 259. Completed application forms are due by 4:00 p.m. on February 21, 2003 and submitted to Mrs. Wingo in Hull 259. Dr. Lee Banton is the Chairman of the Teacher Preparation Scholarship Committee.

GENERAL

The College of Business & Economics is hosting the Executive-in-Residence Program on January 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Hiner 207.The guest speaker is Janet A. Alpert, President, LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc.

On January 21, Piscataway Nation (Native American dance troupe) will perform at 8:00 p.m. in Jarman Auditorium. This performance will feature The Piscataway Indian Nation Singers and Dancers, who tour extensively performing authentic Native American dance, drum and song. Mark Tayac, a national spokesperson for the Piscataway nation, welcomes the opportunity to educate and entertain audiences who want to learn more about Native American history, culture & contemporary issues. This event is sponsored by The Performing Arts Series. Admission: Free- LU students; $5- Faculty/staff, non-LU students & Senior Citizens; $7- General Public.

The Women's Studies Program is pleased to announce this semester's Wednesday workshops, co-sponsored by the Library staff. This semester's workshops will be held in Library 147B at 3 pm. On January 22, Nancy Krippel, Associate Provost and Director, Graduate Studies will discuss "The First Woman Novelist."

The Martin Luther King Symposium is featuring Frank Wu, Professor of Law at Howard University, Washington DC on January 23, at 7:30 pm in Jarman Auditorium. Professor Wu joined the faculty of the Howard University School of Law, in Washington, D.C., in 1995. Now tenured, he served as Clinic Director from 2000 to 2002 and regularly teaches traditional courses such as civil procedure. Heis a visiting professor at University of Michigan in thecurrent academic year.
