I want to stay overnight. What hotels are available?
Currently, we understand that most of the motels in the immediate Farmville area have a waiting list. A day trip is recommended due to the limited supply of motel rooms. For a list of hotels in the area, click here.
I haven’t been to Longwood since I graduated. What’s new?
Our current students will be conducting campus tours during the registration period in the morning. Simply come to the registration table to join one of the tours. You may also pick up one of our self-guided tour brochures so that you can explore the campus at your leisure throughout the day.
My friends and I want a place to socialize. What do you suggest?
The Lancer Café in the Student Union will be open starting at 1:30 p.m. and offers food, drinks and a comfortable location to reminisce about Longwood with your fellow alumni. The Café will also be open from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for coffee and pastries for those who arrive on campus early in the morning.
Where can I purchase Longwood or Ruffner merchandise?
The Longwood University Bookstore will have Longwood items available at a table in front of Lancaster. Other vendors will be selling commemorative merchandise in this same area. The Bookstore will be open throughout the day in their location in Blackwell Hall.
I am worried about handicapped accessibility. How can you assist me?
For information regarding handicapped parking and accessibility, please call the alumni office at 800.281.4677, ext. 3. We will be able to provide you with detailed instructions on where to park and can talk to you at that time about how our Disability Support Services department can assist you.
I have submitted my registration through your online form. Now what?
When you arrive on April 23, proceed to the registration table and look for the signs that indicate a pick-up area for those who have prepaid. At this table you may pick up your meal tickets, an updated schedule of events, and other campus information.
I have some potential conflicts and need to wait until the last minute to decide if I can attend. Is it too late to register?
Online registration will continue through April 21, and lunches prepaid online will be $10 per person. If you prefer, you can print the registration form from the web and mail the form and your check to Rotunda Rededication, Longwood University Alumni Office, 201 High Street, Farmville, VA 23909. Those who have not registered in advance will need to come to the registration table on April 23 to pay for their meal. The on-campus registration cost for lunch will be $10 per person.
Why is there a charge to attend?
The only charge for this special event is the picnic. You can come to the Rededication ceremony and other activities without coming to the picnic. There are a number of eating establishments within walking distance of the campus. The picnic will be the only location on campus for food service until the Lancer Café opens at 1:30 p.m.
How many alumni, students and guests do you expect?
The Rotunda and Ruffner Hall are such an important part of Longwood, we estimate that between 3,000 and 4,000 people will return to campus for this special event.
What if I cannot come on April 23, but still want to see the Rotunda?
We are planning to host an Open House from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 and Sunday, May 1. Parking will be available in the Crafts lot. If you need special assistance, please notify the Alumni Office of the date and time you plan to be on campus.
How can I get information about the alumni games, sorority open houses and BSU Reunion?
Final details about these events will be available in mid-March. Please check the web site for details. Updates about the Rededication will also be in the Alumni E-Newsletter. If you are not receiving this monthly newsletter, please send your email address to the Alumni Office.
How to I contact the Alumni Office?
You can contact the Alumni Office by calling 1-800-281-4677, ext. 3; emailing alumni@longwood.edu; or mailing a letter to Longwood University Alumni Office, 201 High Street, Farmville, VA 23909.
