The Women in Lincoln's Life

Mr. Winkler, who worked at Longwood from 1982 until retiring in 1995, became interested in researching a book about Abraham Lincoln after learning that he was related to Mary Rutledge, Lincoln's reputed sweetheart whose death in 1835, according to some historians, left the future president virtually suicidal. The book, which has been nominated for the prestigious Lincoln Prize, also examines his relationships with his stepmother, his wife, and other women. Mr. Winkler lives in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Zomy's Dreams

This is the third science fiction book for children by Ms. Wynne, of Richmond, who coordinates special programs for ECPI Technical College. The others are Jonathan's Fort and Once Upon a Cloud. All three were illustrated by Douglas Payne, whose sister, Allison Ryan '92 was a sorority sister of the author's. Published by Quiet Vision Publishing, softcover, 27 pages
