Update: 1 September 2006 Several weeks ago, we communicated information concerning the Sony battery recall by Dell Computer Corporation. Please be informed that Apple has also issued a recall on some Sony batteries shipped with Apple 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4. A website which enables owners of these models to determine if their battery is affected by this recall has been posted at https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange/. If you are in possession of one of the affected Apple notebooks please visit this website and take the appropriate steps to determine if you battery needs to be replaced. If you find that you do have a recalled battery please discontinue the use of the battery immediately. You may use the power adaptor cord provided with your notebook until your replacement battery arrives. Both Dell and Apple are issuing instructions and packaging for the return of the recalled batteries. This material is being shipped with the replacement batteries. If you have questions please contact User Support Services at 4357 or email helpdesk@longwood.edu. 16 August 2006 Longwood/Dell laptops affected by battery recall Longwood’s Information and Instructional Technology Services (IITS) has issued updated information regarding the Dell Computer Corporation recall for batteries sold with some Dell notebook computers (Latitude, Inspiron, XPS, and Dell Precision Mobile Workstations). Included in this group is the Dell Latitude, the model specified in the Longwood/Dell contract and the Virginia State Dell contract. IITS has learned that a significant number of batteries shipped with the Longwood/Dell machines are affected by this recall.
