1 February 2007 Longwood launches the Tutoring Corps for K-12 students Longwood University has initiated the Tutoring Corps, an elite group of students who have been approved to tutor K-12 students in a variety of subjects. Longwood students selected for the Tutoring Corps have demonstrated their knowledge of discipline-specific Standards of Learning (SOLs) and have completed an application and screening process. Those wishing to learn more about the Tutoring Corps or available Tutoring services are invited to attend an open house at the Longwood Center for Communication, Literacy, and Learning (LCCLL) from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 10. The LCCLL is located in Farmville at Third and Main streets on the third floor above the Daily Grind. All tutoring sessions will be held at the LCCLL. Citizens interested in acquiring a tutor for a specific subject should contact the LCCLL at 395.2972 or email lccll@longwood.edu. The LCCLL is an interdisciplinary center that offers speech and language services, tutoring, and classes in parenting skills. |
