15 February 2008 Expert on Asian foreign policy
Chanda’s most recent book, published in May 2007, is Bound Together: How Traders, Preachers, Adventurers and Warriors Shaped Globalization. A New York Times review said that Chanda “takes a sweeping view of his subject, covering millenniums of global exploration, conquest, trade and communication in lively fashion, drawing connections between the ancient caravan traders and FedEx, or the ancient trade in obsidian and his own adventure ordering an iPod over the Internet.” Chanda is director of publications for the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization and editor of YaleGlobal Online, its flagship publication. He was editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review from 1996 to 2000 and was a correspondent for that magazine for another 22 yeas prior to becoming its editor. Most of his books deal with Asian politics, security and foreign policy issues. |
