18 April 2008 Longwood Supervisor of the Year
Patricia Payne of the Registrar’s office was recently selected Supervisor of the Year for the second consecutive year in Longwood University’s student employment program. Lisa Robinson, a senior from Sterling who works in Disability Support Services (DSS), is Student Employee of the Year. Payne, who is among more than 70 Longwood employees who supervise student workers, is an education support specialist. She has worked at Longwood since September 1989, when she began as a temporary employee in the Human Resources office. She has worked full-time in the Registrar’s office for about 16 years. She is a Crewe native who lives in Cumberland.
Robinson, one of about 750 student employees, is a student desk aide in DSS who works 10-12 hours per week. She has worked in that office since the spring of 2006. She is majoring in communication sciences and disorders and minoring in special education. After graduating May 10, she will attend graduate school at Longwood in the college & community counseling program. She is secretary of the Judicial Board and the National Student Speech Hearing Language Association and membership chair of the Longwood Ambassadors. Nadine Garrett (Career Center) was first runner-up for Supervisor of the Year, and Matthew Powe (Greenwood Library) was first runner-up for Student Employee of the Year. The awards were presented April 13 during the annual Citizen Leader Awards program. |
