President of LandAmerica featured in Executive Excellence series The president of LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., Janet A. Alpert, will be the featured guest speaker in January during the Executive Excellence series presented by the College of Business and Economics at Longwood University. Ms. Alpert will be speaking on “The Importance of Goals, Both Personally and Professionally,” at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, in Hiner Auditorium on campus. The free lecture is open to the public, but seating is limited. Janet Alpert began her career in the title industry in 1969 with Lawyers Title in Los Angeles. She helped create the company’s successful National Division concept, which continues to serve as a national prototype for the industry. She was elected president of Lawyers Title in 1993 and, following the acquisition of Commonwealth and Transnation in 1998, she became president of LandAmerica Financial Group, one of the largest title insurance underwriters in the country. Headquartered in Richmond, LandAmerica has more than 700 offices nationwide that provide title insurance and a broad range of real estate-related services to residential and commercial customers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean.
