FIRE RESPONSE

Dr. Patricia Cormier, President of Longwood College held a meeting with her executive staff and deans this morning at 8 am to discuss recovery from the Ruffner fire of last night.

Initial plan:

Campus Meeting at 11:00 am, Jarman Auditorium
--The President and key members of the executive staff will hold a campus wide meeting in Jarman auditorium to discuss the fire and aftermath. At that meeting, the following announcements will be made:

--Classes, which would have ended this Friday, have been cancelled for the remainder of the semester
--In general, final exams will not be given. Faculty will render grades based upon performance to date; exceptions may be made and faculty members will work with students on an individual basis
--All Longwood students will be asked to leave the campus by noon next Saturday, April 28
--Graduating seniors and junior marshals will be allowed to return to campus at noon on Thursday, May 10 to prepare for commencement.
--Commencement will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, May 12 and will be held in its traditional location on Wheeler Mall

NOTE:  Summer school sessions will take place as scheduled.
