TABB is BACK

Longwood celebrated the reopening of Tabb Residence Hall as students returned to campus on Jan.14. Dr. Tim Pierson, vice president of student affairs, cut the ribbon to the hall which has been completely restored since suffering fire, water and smoke damage in the April 2001 fire.

Tabb is completely restored inside, including refinished walls, floors and ceilings, plus a new sprinkler system. Outside, the building has new paint and and a new roof. Construction costs totaled about $2 million.

One hundred and twelve students moved into Tabb for spring semester. Sophomore Jean-Marie Weaver, a Resident Assistant, moved into her third floor room. At the time of the fire, she was a second-floor resident. Talking to reporters at the ribbon-cutting, she said, "It was definitely worth the wait. It's beautiful."
