Transfer and Commuter Students
Welcome Transfer Students!
The Office of First Year Experience & Family Programs offers several programs in addition to Transfer Orientation and Registration for transfer and commuter students at Longwood University.
New Transfer Students at Longwood are automatically enrolled in the 1839 Transfer Experience which begins in the summer after Orientation and Registration. Students enrolled in this program receive weekly messages from their Peer Mentors with information about living or commuting to campus, dining on campus, and campus resources. Students can ask their Peer Mentor questions by email throughout the summer and also participate in an online discussion board through Blackboard.
Transfer students are encouraged to attend TRANSFORM in August of each year. This program provides an extended one day orientation. Students hear from Longwood administrators, representatives from Residential & Commuter Life, the Office of First year Experience & Family Programs, meet over brunch with a Peer Mentor, and have an opportunity to learn more about the Farmville community by visiting a community fair called "The Complete Lancer". Transfer students receive information about TRANSFORM through the 1839 Transfer Experience and are emailed more information in July.

Transfer & Commuter Student Welcome Event!
The Office of First Year Experience & Family Programs and the Office of Residential & Commuter Life co-sponsor annually the Transfer Student and Commuter Student Welcome Event. This event occurs on the first Thursday of the first week of classes in August. Longwood Dining Services provides a complimentary luncheon for all transfer and commuter students. The luncheon is followed by a community resource fair, an Academic Honor & Integrity ceremony for transfer stuents, and a movie in the commuter lounge. Students receive information about the Transfer Student and Commuter Student Welcome Event by email in July.
