Peer Mentors cheering at Longwood Orientation
Peer Mentors cheering at Longwood Orientation

Peer Mentors serve a role on campus that is in part social and in part academic. They assist incoming students during every step of the transition to Longwood: from providing an engaging, knowledgeable resource for students and parents at Orientation to offering support throughout the fall semester to their own group of students.  They model what it means to be a Lancer, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Our Peer Mentors are one of Longwood’s most distinct and recognized team of leaders, partly because of their role in Longwood Seminar. While LSEM is going away, our Peer Mentors will continue to have an evolving role guiding students alongside a Student Success Coach through the first year transition. We are looking for dedicated Lancers who are interested in this unique leadership opportunity!

 Peer Mentors must have:

  • Twelve Longwood credits hours by the end of the Fall 2017 semester
  • A 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Be in good standing with the University: no active judicial or honor sanctions
  • A strong desire to assist with the transition of the incoming class

Interested in helping incoming students and becoming one of Longwood's most recognized leaders on campus? Applications are up now! You can find them and our online Google form (part of our application process) here.

We will be accepting applications until Friday, February 16, 2018. Interested but still unsure? We will be offering Interest Meetings throughout January to answer any questions you have.

Can’t make it to a meeting? We’re happy to field any questions you may have about the specifics (although we may not have ALL the answers just yet!). You can e-mail us at, stop by our office in Lancaster G08, or call us at 434.395.2414.
