Successful candidates for admission into the BSN program have a strong high school background in the sciences and math, a desire to work with people in a helping profession, and an interest in the expanding world of healthcare.

 
 

What Can I Expect?

Built on a strong science foundation, the program includes coursework in the liberal arts and humanities and extensive clinical experiences in both healthcare settings and in the clinical simulation laboratory. The program requires 121 credits, including at least 20 credits in natural science. Nursing courses include a summer clinical externship and a final semester intensive practicum.

 

Accreditation and Approval

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has been approved and/or accredited by the Virginia Board of Nursing and the State Council of Higher Education. The BSN program includes the essential content recommended by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Longwood University will seek accreditation for its BSN program by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Upon completion of the degree, you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to practice professional nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN).
