In December of 2017, two heartwarming activities took place in the Nursing Department.
The faculty collected their annual donations for two local organizations. This year we took up items for Piedmont Senior Resources and Prince Edward Animal Control. Special thanks to Professor Krystle Forlines for organizing this effort.
The Prince Edward Animal Control provides care and shelter for stray and surrendered animals. They are constantly in need of additional food, blankets, health care and hygiene products to keep their animals safe and to be able to provide them opportunities for adoption.
Piedmont Senior Resources provides advocacy, health and nutrition services, home delivered meals, congregate meals at senior centers, information and referral services, in-home services, legal services and Medicare and insurance guidance to seniors. Their services are designed to help seniors lead independent lives, and remain safely in their homes.
In addition to our donation, the department saw the students support each other through final exams. The Junior class organized and hosted a breakfast event during exam week to provide moral support, relaxation and delicious food! It is always great to see our students encourage each other.
We look forward to another great semester!
