Have you ever noticed that the gardens on campus
change with the seasons? The colors change as do
the flowers so that there is always color, from the
rainbow-hued fall pansies to the fiery-topped day
lilies in the spring, to the red and white Impatiens in
the summer. Our horticulturalists make sure that we
are never without full, vibrant color. These ladies
and gentlemen manage and maintain the palette
against which Longwood life takes place.

Do you notice the lawns as you hurry down Brock
Commons on your way to a meeting or class? Have
you ever wondered how Wheeeler Mall stays so lush
and green most of the year? Landscaping and
Grounds management's team of grounds experts
meticulously mows these lawns, yes, but they also
apply fertilizer and seed, aerate, and analyze
problem areas. They correct the places where
vehicles and equipment have bit into the lawns. They
ensure that our ball fields remain green, lush, and
clipped. And, they also keep a keen eye out for litter
that missed a trash can.

Longwood University's Landscaping and Grounds
Management's goal is the make the Longwood
University Campus a green oasis where its students
can learn and live.
