Physics Major Checklist 2005-2006: Physics and Pre-Engineering

- Physics majors and dual-degree students must complete the following:
- PHYS 201 (4 credits); also satisfies Goal 6 requirement
- PHYS 202 (4 credits)
- PHYS 321 (4 credits)
- PHYS 332 (4 credits)
- PHYS 342 (4 credits)
- PHYS 352 (4 credits)
- Elective (4 credits)
- MATH 262
- MATH 361
- MATH 460
- CHEM 111; required for the BS degree
- CHEM 112
- Physics majors (not dual-degree students) must also complete:
- PHYS 400 (4 credits)
- PHYS 401 (3 credits)
- Dual-degree students must complete the following:
- Engineering credits at the transfer institution (7 credits)
Notes:
- It is recommended that Physics/Pre-Engineering majors elect to take CMSC 204 – Introduction to Computer Programming (3 credits). Two additional MATH/CMSC course will allow PHYS/PENG majors to have a minor in MATH. Appropriate paper work must be filled out for a minor, see your academic advisor.
- A Degree Application must be filled out one year prior to graduation. For Pre-Engineering majors this should be done during the junior year before transferring to another institution.
- Pre-engineering majors must apply for acceptance to the school of their choice in the fall of the junior year.
- 120 credit hours are required to graduate.
