The Physics Minor
Overview
Longwood University offers a physics minor for students with an interest in physics. Physics minors need a total of 24 semester hours with a minimum of 8 semester hours of general physics (PHYS 101, 102 or PHYS 201,202). Physics minors are encouraged to take University Physics I and II (PHYS 201, 202), which are calculus based physics courses. These courses will better prepare students for advanced physics courses, which require the use of calculus.
Physics minors additionally need a minimum of 16 semester hours of advanced physics courses (300 level or above). Most of these courses require Calculus I and II (MATH 261, 262). No grade below C- is acceptable in minor courses.
