About IITS Project Management

Our Mission

The mission of the project management office is to provide guidance, support, and oversight for approved Longwood University IT projects.

We can assist University Departments in exploring IT solutions to a broad spectrum of academic and administrative needs.

What We Do

This department is staffed by IT project management professionals in cooperation with the entire IITS management and support staff.   We work closely with individuals and departments accross campus to assist them in identifying their technology needs, finding the right solutions for those needs, and implementing them into a production environment. We work hard to ensure that adequate planning and documentation occur to make projects succeed and remain consistent with the strategic goals of the university and legal policies and guidlines.

The Technology Partner Planning Team (TPPT), has been established to include representatives from each of the business and academic areas and schools.  This team was appointed by the Executive Steering Committee to  review and prioritize IT project requests when conflicts arise with other projects. Competing projects are scored according to a project evaluation matrix to ensure that university resources are assigned to the appropriate projects according to its strategic plan. The TPPT will also review and make recommendations to the Executive Steering Committee when the initial rejection of a Project Inquiry or Project Proposal is appealed.
