Officer Andrew Hansen recently joined the Longwood University Police Department. Officer Hansen was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was accepted into Longwood University in 2008, and earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Longwood in May of 2012. During his time at Longwood, Officer Hansen spent a fall semester at the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in Lynchburg to become a certified police officer and to complete his internship requirement for his degree. Having represented Longwood at the academy and calling the school home for four years, he decided to give back to the college by joining the police in their mission to protect the students, faculty and staff, and the campus.
Officer Hansen has his EMT certification along with First Aid and CPR/AED. He has volunteered with both the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad and the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad, giving him a medical knowledge helpful to law enforcement personnel. Officer Hansen spends his free time with family and friends.
