Where is your office located?

Campus Police is located on the lower level of the Dorrill Dining Hall. If you are driving, from Main Street turn onto Redford Street (McDonalds at intersection) and drive 2/10th mile and our office is located on the right.    

How should I Report a Crime?

Call 911 or X2091 from any campus phones. You must dial 434-395-2091 from cell-phones and non-campus phones, give dispatcher your name, location and a contact number, and provide other pertinent information about the crime and suspects. Answer the dispatcher’s questions and do not hang-up, let the dispatcher hang-up first. Crimes should be reported immediately or ASAP.

What should I do if I feel unsafe walking alone on campus?

The student escort/night walkers are available most nights until midnight or 2AM. The police officers will escort doing times the student services are unavailable   

Will a police officer help me with a disabled vehicle?

Yes, if you are on campus property and you only need routine assistance such as a jump start. The officers are not mechanics and will not render any other mechanical assistance. However, they will assist with traffic control, if needed and assist you with contacting a mechanic or towing service. 

Can I speak to the officer that gave me this ticket?

No!  The individual officer’s are not a liberty to discuss an issued parking violation. You may appeal your tickets online or in person by coming to the campus police or parking services offices to pickup up an appeal form.

I am a visitor, where can I park?

In a visitor designated parking space, be cognizant of timed restrictions. All guests of staff or students should visit the parking service office in the Graham building during normal business hours. The parking office will issue you a guest pass and provide parking instructions.

I lost my Longwood ID card can I get a new one?

Yes, lost and/or stolen card(s) should be reported to the ID Center at 434-395-2715 or the Police Dispatcher immediately. A loaner card can be issued for up to seventy-two hours from the ID Center or the Police Dispatch Center.   

What should I do if involved in a minor accident on campus?

If blocking traffic, move vehicle(s) to the nearest safe location. You may exchange information with the other driver, obtain full name, address, vehicle insurance and vehicle description information. You should obtain information from any witness. A police officer will respond if you are uncomfortable with the exchange of information process.   

Do you have a parking map of the campus?

A printed version is normally in the lobby of the police department. Also, one can be obtained on-line on the Parking Services website.
