Sgt. Russell Dove

Sergeant Dove is a 26 veteran of the public safety profession and has served at the Hampden-Sydney Police, Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia Department of Corrections. He is a certified criminal justice instructor, AED/CPR, First-Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor and has served as the department’s Designated Infection Control Officer since 2001.

Sergeant Dove is responsible for various assignments to include managing the communications section, data analyses, records management and submission of the department's official criminal activity reports to the appropriate state and federal agencies. He also conducts a variety of the department's administrative functions to include updating communications protocols to increase customer service satisfaction and operations efficiency.

Sergeant Dove is a Longwood alumnus; he completed his BS degree in Sociology with several honors to include receiving the Who's Who among College Seniors and the Dan Daniel Senior Award for Scholarship and Citizenship. He is also a 2008 graduate of The Institute for Leadership in Changing Times sponsored by the Pamplin Business College at VA TECH and the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation.

Sergeant Dove has a long history of public service. He is a Life-Member of the Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad serving greater than ten years and he currently serves as Chairman of the Prince Edward County Public School Board of Education. He also serves on several other governing boards and is a member of the local Rotary International Club and the PHI KAPPA PHI Honor Society which promotes service above self.

Sergeant Dove and his wife own and manage several housing rental properties. His free time is centered around his family, wife, two children and a grandson. In his limited spare time he enjoys reading and working on small household projects.
