Dr. Cormier Congratulates Lancers

Women's Soccer

Longwood University Athletics and Longwood President Patricia P. Cormier recognized the Women’s Soccer Team, 2008 Champions of the United Soccer Conference (USC), at halftime of the men's basketball game against James Madison University in Willett Hall December 3 (a 79-76 victory for the Lancers). Congratulations and appreciation were expressed to 15th-year head coach Todd Dyer and his program that finished this fall with an overall record of 10-7-2, including a 1-0 victory past Utah Valley University in the USC Tournament Championship at the Athletics Complex in Farmville on November 3.

Also honored were the Men’s Soccer Team, 2008 Champions of the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Congratulations and appreciation were expressed to fourth-year head coach Jon Atkinson and his program that finished this fall with an overall record of 8-8-4, including a 1-0 victory past Adelphi University in the ASC Tournament Championship at the Athletics Complex in Farmville back on November 16. Shown with the team is Longwood University President, Dr. Patricia P. Cormier and Coach Atkinson's son, Jack.

The Field Hockey Program was recognized for their 2008 NorPac Field Hockey Conference honors with congratulations expressed to, L-R: first-year head coach Iain Byers, NorPac Coach of the Year; senior Carra Bunner/Virginia Beach (Kempsville), All-NorPac 2nd-Team; senior Carla Binnewies/Hamburg, Germany, NorPac Offensive Player of the Year, All-NorPac 1st-Team; sophomore Lauren Van de Kamp/Midlothian (Trinity Episcopal), All-NorPac 2nd-Team; and junior Julia Hernandez/Norfolk (Maury), NorPac All-Tournament Team. Shown with Coach Byers and the team honorees is Longwood University President, Dr. Patricia P. Cormier.
