New tuition and fees approved by Board of Visitors
The Longwood University Board of Visitors took the following actions during its meeting March 25:
- approved tuition and fees for 2006-2007. Total costs for tuition, fees, and room and board will increase by an average of 8.3 percent for in-state undergraduate residential students (from $12,606 to $13,647) and by 10.2 percent for out-of-state undergraduate residential students (from $19,340 to $21,317). The new tuition and fee figures cited above are based on per-hour charges for students registering for 30 credit hours per year.
- approved allocating $1,250,000 from the General Auxiliary Reserve to renovate the Willett Hall locker rooms ($500,000), to renovate Tabb Hall for offices for Athletics ($500,000), and field renovations ($250,000).
- approved revising policies for faculty-staff broadcast e-mail (Policy 6129) and external grants and contracts (Policy 4103) and a new debt management policy (Policy 1009). Broadcast e-mails by faculty and staff must relate to the operation of the university and/or health and safety of the campus community. Faculty and administrators applying for, receiving and administering external grants contracts and cooperative agreements must follow certain guidelines. The debt management policy, required by legislation, defines “the maximum percent of institutional resources that can be used to pay debt service in a fiscal year, and the maximum amount of debt that can be prudently issued within a specified period.” (To view the Longwood University Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual, please click here).
- approved revisions to the Student Handbook. The changes focus on a revised hazing policy and other policy and editorial revisions to the handbook. To view the Revised Hazing Policy, click here (pdf, 168k). To view other revisions to the Student Handbook, click here (pdf, 130k).
