STUDENT ACCESS TO THE ACADEMIC UNIX SERVER

I.    PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for student access to the Academic Unix Server.  

II.    POLICY

Access to the Academic Unix Server is limited to students enrolled in classes directly related to its use.

III.     PROCEDURES

A.  Submitting Requests for Access:  The appropriate faculty member will submit access requests in writing to the following office: Unix System Administrator, IITS, Longwood University, Coyner Building, 201 High Street, Farmville, Virginia 23909.

B.  System Administrator's Role: The System Administrator grants access or reactivates any student accounts and responds back to the faculty member.

C.  Termination and Reactivation of Student Access: All student Student access accounts are is subject to removal after remaining being inactive for six (6) months or in accordance with the Access to Information and Technology Resources and Systems Policy Accounts are automatically disabled after sixty (60) days of inactivity.  Students, whose  accounts are disabled due to inactivity or password expiration problems, must present a photo ID in person to User Support Services to have their account reactivated re-enabled.
