Clinical Experience (Student Teaching)

Thank you for participating in Longwood University's teacher preparation program as a cooperating teacher.  The email you received from the Office of Professional Services (OPS) has important contact information you will want to keep on hand while hosting one of our teacher candidates.

The Clinical Experience Placements Handbook (pdf) provides an overview of the varying roles of the cooperating teacher, host school principal, university supervisor, and teacher candidate.  It also includes suggestions and checklists that can assist you as you actively participate in this phase of the teacher preparation program.  If you do not already have Adobe Reader, visit http://get.adobe.com/reader to download the latest version so that you can access the handbook on the following website:

One of your responsibilities as a cooperating teacher is to complete the two online documents identified below.  These online forms help the OPS and the various program areas evaluate the clinical experience placement and make the improvements necessary to better prepare teacher candidates to meet the placement needs of our partnering PK-12 school divisions.
