Housing Selection

New Freshmen, Transfer, and Readmitted Student Application Process

New Freshmen, Transfer, and Readmitted students will register for Longwood managed housing at the summer orientation program.  Peer Mentors will assist new students with submitting the online housing application.  All students will have the opportunity to submit preferences for building, meal plan, and roommate matching questions or request a specific roommate.  The RCL office will make every attempt to honor student preferences, but please understand that it is impossible for every student to be assigned in his/her desired  building.  Mutual roommate requests will be honored as space permits.  Housing assignments will be made based upon student preferences and space availability.

New Freshmen will receive email confirmation regarding his/her housing assignment and move-in information by June 28, 2013.

New Transfer and Readmitted Students will receive email confirmation regarding his/her housing assignment and move-in information by July 12, 2013.

All email correspondence will be sent to the student’s Longwood email account.

Any student with questions regarding the housing assignment process should email housing@longwood.edu or call 434-395-2080.

Is Longwood managed housing guaranteed for new freshmen students?

Yes.  New freshmen are required to live in a main campus residence hall unless the student will commute from home within the 8 surrounding counties.  In the event that the number of new freshmen exceeds the total number of available bed spaces, RCL will create transitional housing spaces for new freshmen.  For more detailed information regarding transitional housing, click the link below.

Is Longwood managed housing guaranteed for Transfer and Readmitted students?

RCL will make every attempt to house as many students as possible.  It is possible that RCL will not have enough bed spaces available to provide housing to all transfer and readmitted students.  Those students that are interested in being admitted as a residential student and live in Longwood managed housing are encouraged to apply early for admission to Longwood.

Where do Summer School students live?

All non-commuting summer school students will be assigned a room in Cox Hall
