Housing Selection

New Freshmen, Transfer, and Readmitted Student Application Process

New residential students will have the opportunity to submit his/her housing & meal plan application at summer orientation.  Students will have the opportunity to submit building preferences and desired meal plan.  The RCL office will accept mutual roommate requests, but this is discouraged.  Those students without a mutual roommate request will be able to submit roommate matching questions.

Any student with questions regarding the housing assignment process should email housing@longwood.edu or call 434-395-2080.

Is Longwood managed housing guaranteed for new freshmen students?

Yes.  New freshmen are required to live in a main campus residence hall unless the student will commute from home within the 8 surrounding counties.  In the event that the number of new freshmen exceeds the total number of available bed spaces, RCL will create transitional housing spaces for new freshmen.  For more detailed information regarding transitional housing, click the link below.

Is Longwood managed housing guaranteed for Transfer and Readmitted students?

RCL will make every attempt to house as many students as possible.  It is possible that RCL will not have enough bed spaces available to provide housing to all transfer and readmitted students.  Those students that are interested in being admitted as a residential student and live in Longwood managed housing are encouraged to apply early for admission to Longwood.

Where do Summer School students live?

All non-commuting summer school students will be assigned a room in Cox Hall
