Safety and Security- The University
employs a full-time police/security force providing coverage 24
hours/365 days a year for the campus. University Residence halls are secured 24
hours a day and accessible by resident students only through a personal card
access system. Individual room and suite keys are issued to the students. The Residential and Commuter Life
Staff and police monitor and conduct rounds in
the buildings on a regular basis. An escort service provides evening escorts. A
student-run EMT unit is available for emergency response anywhere on
campus. Students are expected to assist in the security of the campus by
reporting any suspicious activity to the Residence Education Staff and the
Longwood Police. Fire safety procedures and inspections are part of residence
education and are strictly enforced. Fire, health and safety inspections are
conducted in occupied student rooms three times a year and once during the
summer.
Student Responsibilities- Students
are responsible for the care and cleanliness of their rooms and for the
condition of their floor and residence hall. A damage / contingency deposit is
collected from each student and serves as an incentive for responsible
involvement and behavior. We encourage roommates to contact each other to
clarify what each will bring due to limited space. Students are responsible for
all policies and procedures pertaining to the campus and residence halls
explained in the Longwood University Student Handbook. The Handbook is issued when
new students check into their residence hall. This publication is also
available on-line.
Information
Technology Support Services- Each student room is wired with an analog
