Flexible Reimbursement Accounts:
The Commonwealth of Virginia provides employees the option to enroll in Dependent Care and Medical Reimbursement Flexible Spending Accounts. Deductions for these employee benefits are on a pre-tax basis. 

Health Care Coverage: Statewide Plans and Regional PMO and HMO Plans:
Statewide Plans are available to all Longwood employees. 

Leave Accrual
T & R Administrators accrue 120 days of sick leave annually and 16 hours annual leave per month.  All employees under VSDP accrue leave according to months of service.  All employees observe 12 State Holidays.

Life Insurance: 
Virginia Retirement System - term life; employee's salary rounded to nearest thousand; doubled; and doubled again in the event of an accident. Administered by Minnesota Life.

Optional Life Insurance:
(VRS/Minnesota Life) An employees may purchase up to four times your salary worth of life insurance on yourself; half of what you purchase for yourself on your spouse; and up to $15,000 on children. Cost charts outlined in brochure are available from Human Resources.

Premium Conversion:
Premium Conversion is a pre-tax deduction for health benefits premiums available to all state employees. An employee must enroll in premium conversion in order to take advantage of this benefit. Click here for more information.

Retirement Plans
The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) administers a defined benefit plan, a group life insurance plan, a deferred compensation plan and a cash match plan for Virginia's public sector employees, as well as the Virginia Sickness and Disability Program for state employees.

TIAA-CREF can be substituted for  VRS. 

CommonHealth:
Longwood has a CommonHealth Committee that administers the state's CommonHealth wellness program. This free program assists state employees, families, and retirees in changing unhealthy behavior and lifestyles. The variety of wellness activities include Stair Climbin' Challenge, Turkey Trot, Eating Right on the Run, Label Logic, Water Drinking, Skin Wellness and a number of others. 

Tuition Waiver
Employees are allowed to take 3 classes per academic year (one each semester and  one during a summer session).  The comprehensive fee is waived for dependents of employees ($30 per credit hour during spring and fall sessions). 

Worker's Compensation
Employees may be compensated for on-the-job injuries as determined by the Office of Risk Management (medical and time lost). Reports are available from Human Resources. Worker's Compensation information is available from the Virginia Worker's Compensation Commission.
