| Accommodation Floor Plans and Descriptions >> The Longwood University Residential and Commuter Life Program is designed and managed to contribute to student learning and personal development. The University recognizes that the residential experience is a significant part of Longwood’s mission. The Residence Education Staff and living options offered to meet student needs and interests are integral in achieving the University's vision of meaningful living environments. Residence Education Staff and Programs - Each residence hall is staffed with a full-time, live-in professional, Residence Education Coordinator (REC) and undergraduate Resident Assistants (RAs). This staff provides leadership in each residence hall to stimulate and develop connections between academic and social interests among students through formal and informal activities. Student responsibility for behavior, community, activity, and learning is encouraged as students practice the values of citizen leadership: community, commitment, collaboration, and civility. The Faculty-In-Residence Program, specific issue oriented educational opportunities, small group and one-on-one interaction with faculty and staff challenge and support the development of the whole student. Upper-Class and Transfer Student
Housing- Our continuing commitment to the development of citizen
leaders is the mark of our upper-class and transfer living options. The
upper-class halls feature a variety of special interest living options including
Honors Housing,
International Studies House (ISH), Globe, SATISFACTION, and Fraternity/Sorority
organizations. Each one of these provides unique opportunities for students to
incorporate their academic and personal interests into their residential
experience. Honors Option- Honors Housing is available to students who are in the Honors Program. This Program is designed to offer challenging opportunities for intellectual growth. The Program is open to entering first-year students and upper-class students. Commitment To Substance and Alcohol Free Living- Longwood University is committed to creating learning environments which support substance (drug and tobacco) and alcohol free living. The University respects and adheres to the alcohol laws of the Commonwealth. Students under the age of 21 are not allowed to drink alcohol.
