To Sign Up for a Trip come by the Campus Recreation Office in the Health & Wellness Center, 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday and pay the trip fee.

Campus Recreation accepts cash or checks. Refunds are available for cancellations if 5 days notice is provided by the participant or for cancellations made by Longwood Outdoors.

 

Winter Backpacking:  Head to the mountains for the weekend with everything you need strapped to your back! The adventure takes place on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia and provides stunning views.  No backpacking experience is necessary; just bring good boots, warm clothes and a sense of adventure.  Backpacks, tents, cooking gear, food and guides are all included.  We will even help you pack at the pre trip meeting! 

Cost:  $45, sign-up deadline:  February 24th

 

Spring Break:  This is an Alternative Spring Break trip in coordination with the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement and Zion National Park.  The focus will be on service while camping in the park, cooking meals together, and spending time by the fire.  The trip offers 32 service hours and a day off to explore the canyon. All trip meals and camping equipment are included. This is a once in a lifetime trip.  Applications and payment information is available at the Student Union Office.

Cost:  $600, sign-up deadline:  February 3rd

 

Day Hike:  Join us on this moderately strenuous 5.8 mile day hike loop in the George Washington National Forest. Enjoy spectacular views atop meadow-like landscapes. March weather in the area can be cool, so be sure to bring the right clothes, your camera, and a sack lunch.

Cost:  $10, sign-up deadline:  March 28th

 

Rock Climbing:  For these two introductory rock climbing trips we will travel to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia to challenge ourselves with some excellent top rope climbing at Ravens Roost and Goshen Pass. The cliffs and boulders are great and just right for those getting started or can be modified to challenge even the most hardcore rock jock.  All Equipment and Climbing Shoes are included, you bring lunch.
Cost:  $15, sign-up deadlines:  March 21stand April 4th

 

 

Canoe Overnight:  Paddle up to primitive camping along the shores of James River State Park. No previous paddling experience is required, as our guides will show you a few strokes to get you moving down river in style.  This section of the James is a nice float with a few good ripples and gorgeous scenery. All canoeing and camping equipment, trip meals and camping fees are included.

Cost:  $35, sign-up deadline:  April 18th
