Frostbite FOREball Tournament ~ Results

The Frostbite FOREball was an exciting event with unseasonalble weather. Groups all playing from the Silver Tees in a Captains Choice Format finished with lower than normal scores for an event here at Longwood. The first place team came in with an astounding -17 and second place with a -14 total. Closest to the pins were taken by Longwood Golf Club members Glen Moore and Kenny Moore. Keep posted for future events this season.

Mens Golf League

Every Sunday throughout the off season the Longwood Mens Group will be holding a golf league at 1:00 p.m. This 18 hole league will be based on the Longwood Points System and everyone is invited to play. Cost for members is $10.00 and for nonmembers $15.00. Come join us as we fight off the Fall and Winter seasons with this fun and inexpensive golf league!

Farmville Challenge ~ Fall 2011

Once again the Longwood University Golf Club has defended their title as the Farmville Challenge winners for the Fall of 2011. With a 25 - 5 lead over the Farmville Municipal Golf Course after the first round at Longwood, the Longwood University Golf Club entered the second round with confidence. The Farmville Municipal Golf Course fought back but was unable to defend on their own turf as the Longwood group successfully took most the points there as well. Thanks to all that participated and we look forward to another exciting match in the Spring of 2012!

New Carts Have Arrived!

We are proud to introduce our new line of golf carts to the Longwood Golf Course. A shipment of 32 E-X-GO model RXV carts came in last week from Pinehurst and are now fully operating on the course. We hope that you will find these carts comfortable and accommodating for your ride through the course. All carts are outfitted with cart hoods for rain protection, two attachable sand bottles for divot repair, four cup holders, six ball holders, as well as extraordinary acceleration and automatic locking breaks. Extended battery life on the carts should ensure no issues with carts running low on power even for our 36 hole golfers! Come check them out!

Cart Shed Fire

The Longwood University Golf Course cart shed caught fire early in the morning hours of Friday, August 26. The shed, containing the golf course golf carts and other equipment was destroyed. Currently we are lucky to have some golf carts on loan from the Farmville Municipal Golf Course and the Manor Golf Course and will still be open and ready for play. We ask that nobody enter the area near where the fire took place until all damage has been assessed and cleaned. Thank you all for you continued support through our current complications.

Senior Lady Tees

The Longwood Golf Club is proud to announce the introduction of new teeing grounds throughout the course. With the inspiration of some local lady members the Longwood Silver Tees  have been added to our layout. VSGA Course Rating and Slope have been applied to these new markers. These new tees allow for our senior ladies a fair advantage while competing against the younger women. It has been a great addtion to the course!
