In partnership with the University of Richmond ROTC Spider Battalion, we are dedicated to commissioning high caliber and diverse future officer leadership for the United States Army.

Army ROTC

The Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) is a college-based elective course that develops the future officers for the U.S. Army through leadership and management training. Its mission is to prepare young men and women for commissioning as second lieutenants in the Regular Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard.

ROTC produces nearly 70 percent of all commissioned officers in the U.S. Army and is the largest single source for officers. By producing mature and confident leaders for all types of leadership and management positions, ROTC also provides the breeding ground for future leaders in business and other civilian sectors.

In addition to their normal studies, enrolled students take prescribed military science courses and attend a five-week Advanced Camp Course during the summer between their third and fourth years of college. Upon successful completion of this course of study and baccalaureate degree requirements, students are commissioned as second lieutenants.
