Field education in social work is a critical component in the completion of student training. The purpose of field education at Longwood is to assist students in integrating social work program goals and objectives through applied field education training and experiences. Upon completion of course work and field education, students should meet expectations as entry level generalist social work practitioners.
The students in the Social Work program enjoy diverse field trips to enhance their learning experience. Some of these are programmatic and some are through direct classroom experiential learning.
Annually, in the fall, students travel to Massanutten to participate in Rally in the Valley, where students from other Social Work programs join them.
