Social Work and Communication Sciences & Disorders
Welcome to the Department of Social Work and Communication Sciences and Disorders.
After many years as programs within the Department of Education, Special Education, Social Work and Communications Disorders, our new department officially began July 1, 2007. We are the manifestation of a vision of innovative growth and excellence in the College of Education and Human Services and in the Longwood University community.
The department has developed a mission and an infrastructure that takes into account all of its constituents, especially our students – our future citizen leaders. At the very least, this means building a foundation that will allow faculty and staff to excel in the kinds of teaching, research and service that address the growing demands of the world around us both near and far-locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
As always, we invite you to visit us to ask questions and collect information, or to share your thoughts and ideas. Again, welcome!
The Department of SOWK & CSDS educates and empowers students to become effective professionals and citizen leaders in multiple, diverse human service and educational settings at the local, state, regional, national, and global level.
The Department of Social Work and Communication Sciences and Disorders offers:
- Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work
- Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders
