>>> ON OCTOBER 19th, 40 students taking German gathered at Dr. Reynolds farm in Prospect to celebrate “Oktoberfest auf der Farm.” This annual event was commemorated by special t-shirts with the word “Prosit!” written on the front. Students had a meal of Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Kartoffelsalat, Brot and soft drinks.

>>> A NEW SOCIAL meeting for Spanish majors is planned: Noche de botanas. Let’s have fun and conversation in Spanish while having some botanas at “La parota”. Botanas are Mexican dishes similar to Spanish tapas or pinchos, and are the perfect meal for having a nice time with friends.

>>> LONGWOOD will again host the French Film Festival in the spring semester, beginning on January 28th with the animated film Azur et Asmar.  Films are free and begin at 7pm.  The downtown bakery will have special dinner menus for each film.  For a complete listing of films and trailers, see www.longwood.edu/filmfestival

>>> INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: The Steering Committee for the Longwood Center for Communication, Literacy, and Learning will be hosting interns who might be able to contribute to their mission in various ways. Students who need a local internship (within walking distance), and are interested in the work of the Center, will need to contact Lissa Power-deFur (powerdefurea@longwood.edu). Students with interests in marketing/public relations, infant/child development, family dynamics, early childhood education and literacy would be particularly good candidates.
