  During the last Christmas break, Dr. Francisco Javier Fernández visited Universidad de La Rioja in Spain were he has been invited to teach a doctorate course during May-June 2008. The seminar will be focused on the influences of early modern Spanish drama in Manuel Bretón de los Herreros, a 19th century Spanish playwright. H. Before that, Dr. Fernández will also attend the 62th Annual Kentucky Conference on Foreign Languages at Lexington in April. His presentation will discuss the role of women in Spanish society in the first part of 19th century..  
     
  Dr. John Reynolds will give a talk at the German-American Society conference in Colonial Williamsburg on April 17. The talk will deal with the reception of the Pocahontas-John Smith legend in German literature.
