Dr. McRae Amoss, professor of French, published an article in the Winter 2008 edition of Dalhousie French Studies.  "Building Readership in Sand's Le Compagnon du Tour de France" explores how the novelist's creation in the text of a characterized narrator and fictional readers makes more palatable for real readers her calls for social reform in nineteenth-century France.  Research for the article was made possible by a 2004-05 sabbatical grant.

Dr. Lily Goetz and Dr. Wade Edwards presented a session on learning disabilities and foreign language instruction at the FLAVA conference on October 10th.  The session looked at ways to increase awareness of students with disabilities in the classroom and at some ways to design foreign language classes with these students in mind.  FLAVA is the statewide association for foreign language teachers.  If you are interested in joining FLAVA, consult the website www.flavaweb.org.
