Language or in Spanish/Education!
Longwood has three master’s
degree programs for Modern Language Majors:
Master’s Degree in
Spanish / Curriculum & Instruction Specialist:
This program is for Spanish
majors who have completed the undergraduate teacher preparation
program and have graduated with a teaching license. You will
take courses in Education and Spanish. As with the Initial Licensure
program, most of your graduate Spanish classes will be offered abroad, in
Summer Institutes for Spanish Teachers. Here is the link to

Master’s Degree in Spanish
and Initial Licensure:
This program is for Spanish
majors who have not taken the courses for teaching licensure during their
undergraduate studies. You will take courses at the graduate level in
Education, Psychology, and Spanish. Most of your graduate Spanish
classes will be offered abroad. When you graduate with this
master’s degree, you will also receive a Virginia teaching license.

Master’s Degree in ESL
Initial Licensure:
This program is for Spanish
majors OR English majors (English majors are expected to have taken
at least 3 upper-level modern language courses--Spanish, French or German—or
may take those courses during the course of their master’s study.
You will take courses at the graduate level in English,
Education, Psychology and a modern foreign language. Upon completion
of the program, you will receive a master’s degree and a Virginia teaching
