SPANISH 335: Spanish Cinema









Spanish 335: Hispanic Cinema. A critical approach to the cinema of Spain and Latin America. In this course you will learn the basics of how to analyze a filmic text in Spanish while you develop a critical sense of what a film can transmit and communicate. During the semester, we will also discuss cultural topics related to different Hispanic countries such as Argentina, Cuba, Guatemala, México, and Spain. Memory, immigration, identities, and other contemporary issues will be seen throughout films like La lengua de las mariposas, El silencio de Neto, La historia oficial, María full of grace, Los olvidados, Todo sobre mi madre, and La comunidad.
