Kenneth Fortino

My lab's research investigates the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. Our current research focus is the decomposition of organic matter in lakes and ponds.

I am currently a professor at Longwood University where I teach a variety of courses on ecology, environmental science, and biogeochemisty.

Through my courses I hope to help students develop the skills and desire to support a life-long struggle to understand the natural world. My courses do not provide a body of facts to be interpreted as immutable cannon but rather strive to give students the tools they need as they investigate the material on their own.

You can learn more about the courses I teach or get access to my teaching materials on my teaching page
