Course Description
A study of the peoples and cultures of Latin America, with emphasis on the social institutions of the current century. Prerequisite: SPAN 202 or equivalent. SPAN 320 recommended. 3 credits.

Goal 9 calls for courses which give the student "an understanding of the diversity of other cultures and societies" outside of the Western European tradition. This course fulfills all of the outcomes listed for Goal 9, covering the arts, ethnic heritage and diversity, urban and rural life, cultural institutions, religion, history and current events of Spanish America.
