Subscribing to FLTEACH

To subscribe:

  • Address e-mail to:  listserv@listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu
  • Put nothing in the subject area.  In the message area write the following, inserting your name instead of the words "your name":  subscribe FLTEACH your name
  • Send it.  You will receive confirmation and you must answer it within the stated time limit for the subscription to go through.  Then you will begin to receive lots of e-mails.

Overwhelmed?
Sometimes subscribers are overwhelmed with the number of postings to FLTEACH on a daily basis.  If you would like to keep your mailbox uncluttered, see the options below.  To set one of the options, you will address the e-mail the same way as for subscribing, and put nothing in the subject area, and put the SET command just as you see it below in the message area.  Nothing else.

1.  If you set to DIGEST, you will receive one message a day (or two or three), containing all of the FLTEACH postings and headed by a list of subject headings.  Depending on your own word processor, you can then scroll through or "find" those that appeal to you.  In the message area, write:

SET FLTEACH DIGEST

2.  If you set to INDEX, you will receive only the subject headings and then you can send for the messages you want.  To set to INDEX, in the message area, write:

SET FLTEACH INDEX

3.  Another option is to use the Daily Index feature located on the FLTEACH www page, choose your messages, and send for them using the suggested format.  The requested messages will be e-mailed to you.

4.  Another option is to periodically check the postings in the FLTEACH Archives where you can do keyword searches for those topics of interest to you.  You can also view the archive listing chronologically, by author, or by subject.
