ESSAY I - Why I Want to Teach Music

Content:
- Use the MENC article "Why Teach? Why Music? Why Me?" as a starting point for your thinking. You may expand on some of those ideas, or you may discuss your own ideas. If you use someone else's idea, be sure to mention that, but you do not need to make a formal citation.

- Divide your paper into three distinct sections, so that you cover each of the three questions fully.

- Your paper should be 2.5 - 3 pages long, double spaced. Use standard font (Courier, Helvetica, Arial, etc.) in 12 point. If your paper is a bit long, you may use 10 point font.

- On the first page, in the upper right hand corner, please give the following information, single spaced.

MUSC145
The date the paper is due

Then begin the first line of your paper two lines below that.

- Be sure to develop your ideas, and pay attention to the principles of good writing style.

 

ESSAY II - My Philosophy of Music Education

Content:
- Develop this essay based on your latest, most mature thinking on the topic.

- Your paper must include at least 2 outside references (One may be your text.) and at least two references to your first essay. These references (including your own first essay) should be listed at the end of your paper in proper bibliography format.

- You should use your first essay as a starting point. This second essay must clearly show that you have expanded your perspectives and achieved greater maturity in your ability to articulate them. Attach your first essay to the back of this one.

- This paper does not have a predetermined format, but your organization should be clear to your reader.
