Course Description: This course will address the interconnectedness of disciplines and intelligences that is vital to the learning process. Music may be the primary, equal or secondary part of the learning activity. 3 credits.
Textbook: Materials Packet is provided as part of the class. Page numbers in the Class Schedule refer to this packet.
Course Objectives: At the end of the class participants will be able to
- Use sound exploration as a creative teaching tool
- Include music in the curriculum as both an art form and as a tool for learning in
other subject areas.
- Create/collect a practical repertoire of learning activities which includes music in
combination with other disciplines.
- Create activities which challenge the various intelligences, especially the musical
intelligence.
- Use music as a creative springboard in developing classroom activities,
lessons and units.
- Sing and demonstrate singing to their students.

Grading: A = 90-100; B = 80-89; C = 70-79; F = 69 and below
Attendance Policy: Progress and consistent skill development depend on regular study and practice of techniques learned in class. Much of your progress will result from observing demonstrations and in-class trial and error. Any student’s absence from class or lack of appropriate effort may become an burden to other students in the class. Therefore, class attendance and appropriate preparation are expected.
Honor Code: Students are expected to abide by the Longwood Honor Code.
