BETA BETA BETA

was founded in 1922 by Dr. Frank G. Brooks as a National Honorary for students in the Biological Sciences. The KAPPA LAMBDA chapter at Longwood University was installed in 1974. The objectives of Beta Beta Beta are to promote scholarship in the biological sciences, to promote the dissemination of biological knowledge, and to encourage research.

Membership in Beta Beta Beta is open to Biology majors who have met the following requirements: 1) must be at least second semester sophomores 2) completed at least three Biology courses (with lab) at Longwood University with at least one of them at the 200 level or above; 3) have a Biology course GPA of 3.25 or greater with no grade of D or F in any Biology class. If a class is repeated, the original grade will be used; and 4) a minimum overall GPA of 2.7. Students who have met all of the preceeding requirements will be invited to become members at the next initiation. Initiations are normally held in the fall and spring semesters. If a student feels they are eligible for membership and have not been contacted, they should contact the Beta Beta Beta adviser Dr. Ed Hooks.
