We'll be doing a lot of numerical calculations and plotting in this course. A computer algebra system (CAS) will be very handy. Derive and Maple are available on computers in the math department. However, you will probably want a CAS installed on your computer. My philosophy on software: only chumps pay hundreds of dollars for software when a suibtable free alternative exists. I use Maxima with the wxMaxima GUI, which is very similar to Maple and is available for free. wxMaxima code used in class is available on the notes page. You may need to change the TXT extension to WXM for wxMaxima to recognize it.

All materials within this course are free for educational uses. I have borrowed heavily from others (proper attribution is noted where necessary) and would appreciate attribution for my materials if they are used.
